It is a War of Independence story with a difference. It is written with a professional soldier's eye. It is a must for any Mayo person with an interest in Mayo's history especially the area around Ballinrobe and Tourmakeady. The first edition, a limited hardback, will be available from end of June. This book examines the actions of the South Mayo Brigade IRA, the Border Regiment (2 Bn, 'C' Coy) and the Ballinrobe RIC in great detail during the events of 3 and 4 May 1921 before, during and after the Tourmakeady ambush. Many local people, policemen and soldiers are mentioned. Available towards end of June through me at €20.91 plus p+p. If you would like to order from me I would be delighted to oblige.
